The hotel and casino industry attracts more than five million visitors annually and adds over $4 billion to the local economy each year. However, Reno maintains a strong presence in manufacturing and logistics in industries such as computers, electronics, financial services, and communications. In 2005, Inc. magazine ranked Reno Number One on its list of the “Best Places to Do Business in America,” based on job growth figures among 274 metropolitan areas.
The largest employers in Reno include the Washoe County Comptroller, Harrah’s, Silver Legacy Resort Casino, Peppermill Hotel Casino-Reno, Reno Hilton, Washoe County School District, International Gaming Technology, Washoe Medical Center, Truckee Meadows Community College, and University of Nevada-Reno.
